RIP Alan Rickman

The news yesterday morning on Alan Rickman passing was simply heartbreaking. I'm barely at terms with David Bowie gone, and then this happens. Rickman's presence on screen and stage always had my attention. His voice is easily recognizable, even when doing voice work for animated characters. Choosing an ultimate favorite role of his is so challenging. It would come down to Die Hard, Harry Potter, and Love Actually. Even friends on Facebook would share a variety of characters that are their favorites. That's how diverse Rickman was. Maybe there was a stronger post presence with Snape, but it is somewhat understandable considering the majority age group of my friends.

So the picture above -- I never had the privilege of seeing Rickman in the flesh. However, I did send him a fan letter a few years ago during his Seminar run on Broadway. A week or so later I was surprised with a cast-signed playbill and a signed picture of Rickman. It was so unreal. I remember screaming around the mailbox because nothing in my letter asked for anything in return. I'm going to miss him. We all will. He will obviously live on through his work. Always.
